Marcy Facundo-Moya behind the camera

Hey, I'm Marcy.

My path to photography began years ago while serving in the Army, and later continued through cinematography and film. Those experiences taught the value of a well-made image — the importance of light, composition, timing, and presence.

But documentary photography offers something different: the opportunity to observe rather than construct, and to preserve rather than recreate.

Real life is worth paying attention to.

Real people. Real places. Real stories. The ordinary moments.

A person who can no longer be visited.
A place that no longer looks the same.
A season of life that passed too quickly.
A moment in history that would otherwise exist only in someone’s memory.
Maybe it allows a stranger to briefly see the world through someone else’s eyes.

And if the camera can become a way to meet people, hear their stories, preserve what matters, and serve something greater than itself, then the work has a purpose beyond the image.

I’m only the witness.

The story belongs to the people.
